Flights

To reach Pognana Lario we recommend flying to Milan Malpensa (MXP), Milan Bergamo (BGY) or Milan Linate (LIN).

If you want to make the most of your trip, enjoying at the best the magnificent sceneries of the Lake Como and surroundings, we suggest renting a car and enjoying your stay in total freedom and flexibility*.

*You must have a credit card to be able to rent a car (for the bond). Without one, they will refuse to give you a car, even if you already paid for one!

Alternatively, in case you would like to reach us by public transports:

MILAN MALPENSA (MXP): if flying to Malpensa, you will then need to take:
• A train to Saronno (there is a train approx every 15 minutes) - 20 mins ride
• From Saronno, a train to Como Lago (there is a train approx every 30 mins) - 40 mins ride
• From Como, a bus to Pognana - frazione urea (there is a bus approx every 1 hour) - 24 mins ride

MILAN BERGAMO (BGY): if flying to Bergamo, you will then need to take:
• A shuttle bus to Monza or to Milano - approx 1h ride
• From Monza/Milano, you will need to take a train to Como S. Giovanni (Busbahnhof) - approx 40 mins ride
• From Como, a bus to Pognana - frazione urea (there is a bus approx every 1 hour) - approx 24 mins ride

MILAN LINATE (LIN): if flying to Linate, you will then need to take:
• A bus (Autostradale 144 - Bus express) to Milan - approx 25 mins
• From Monza/Milano, you will need to take a train to Como S. Giovanni (Busbahnhof) - approx 40 mins ride
• From Como, a bus to Pognana - frazione urea (there is a bus approx every 1 hour) - approx 24 mins ride

By car

Quickest route

The quickest route goes through Switzerland. This route is, especially towards the end, a beautiful route. There are however a few things to keep in mind.

Vignet Switzerland

To drive through Switzerland, you will need a vignet. Since 2024, you can buy an e-vignet, which is a digital vignet that is connected to your license plate. You can buy your vignet through the link below.

Gotthard tunnel & pass

When you drive through Switzerland, at some point you will drive through the Gotthard tunnel. This tunnel has a total length of almost 17km and is the longest tunnel for traffic in Switzerland. Are you driving during the day and are you not in a rush? Consider avoiding the tunnel and add instead add the Gotthard pass on your route. This pass makes you go over the mountain instead of through the mountain and treats you with some spectacular views.
